International Women’s Day Celebrated at Birla Balika Vidyapeeth, Pilani; Discussion on Women Empowerment and Respect

The International Women's Day Seminar-2024 was organized at Birla Balika Vidyapeeth, Pilani. The theme of the seminar was 'Women in Technology.'
The Chief guest Maj.Gen. S.S. Nair, AVSM, Director, Birla Education Trust, Pilani presided over the event.
The Alumna the school from batches 1981-1991, Ms. Smita Dubey (Director-Technical Delivery enablement, American Express, Gurugram, Haryana), Ms. , Ms. Vinsea A.V. Singh (Ph.D. Scholar, Brain Research, National Brain Research Center (NBRC), Gurugram, Haryana), and Ms. Swati Sharma (Ph.D. Scholar, Nanotechnology, Indian Institute of Technology (IIT), Roorkee, UK) & Shiksha Gahawat (Joint Ph.D. Scholar, Mathematics, BITS Pilani, India, and La Trobe University, Australia) were the main speakers of the session. The guests were welcomed in traditional Rajasthani style.
Commencing the conference with lamp lighting and flower presentation, Principal Dr. M. Kasturi, welcomed all the guests. The first speaker Ms. Smita Dubey highlighted the qualities of a woman leader and discussed how a great team leader can be developed.
Ms. Vinsea A.V. Singh enlightened the audience about the successful role of a woman in science, technology, how the multidisciplinary STEM approach can contribute to better learning of Sciences .
Ms. Swati Sharma discussed the topic of sustainable packaging without plastic as the only viable option.
In the same series, batch 2008-2012 representative Shiksha Gahlawat discussed women empowerment and leadership, illustrating how a journey from the classroom to the boardroom shapes a successful woman.
Subsequently, the chief guest concluded the session by appreciating the contribution of women in leadership roles, striving for gender parity in every field, and their contribution to national development.
At the end of the program, Principal Dr. M. Kasturi honored all the speakers and the chief guest with mementos as a token of appreciation.
