Threads of Sky and Prayer: Celebrating Makar Sankranti at Birla Balika Vidyapeeth

A lot of festivals are celebrated in our school, each bringing its own colours and happiness, but Makar Sankranti has always been my favourite. There is something special about the festival, the joy of togetherness, the warmth of the sun, and the excitement in the air that makes the day unforgettable.

Our celebrations began early in the morning with a kite-flying activity, and the sky soon turned vibrant with kites of all colours and sizes. Laughter echoed all around as we competed, cheered, and teased each other. I still remember the thrill of cutting the kites of so many people, one after another, and the proud moment when my kite flew the farthest away, disappearing into the vast blue sky. It felt like a small victory, filled with excitement and childish happiness.

As the day slowly moved towards evening, the celebration took on a calmer and more peaceful tone. We visited the Saraswati Temple, which looked absolutely beautiful. The temple was thoughtfully decorated, glowing with lights and flowers, creating a serene and spiritual atmosphere. Standing there with my friends, surrounded by peace and devotion, felt deeply comforting.

The transition from the energetic morning to the tranquil evening made the celebration even more meaningful. Makar Sankranti at school was not just about flying kites or following traditions, it was about sharing moments, creating memories, and feeling connected.

This celebration reminded me that festivals are not just dates on a calendar; they are experiences that stay with us long after the day ends. And this Makar Sankranti, filled with joy, laughter, prayer, and togetherness, will always remain close to my heart.
