Birla Balika Vidyapeeth, Pilani, excelled at the Young Scientist India 2023-24 Grand Finale, organized by Space Kids India in collaboration with the Office of the Principal Scientific Adviser to the Government of India. Three Grade 12 students from BBV were selected as finalists for the event held in Chennai from August 22-23, 2024.
Among the 103 finalists from over 18,000 submissions, DUPATI SAANVY won the prestigious title of Young Scientist for her innovative model, "Crop Commander," multifunctional agriculture vehicle and emerged as the First Runner Up within the competition. The solution brings together farm implements such as Temperature Control Cylinder, Combined Harvester, Plougher, Leveler, Water Sprinkler which will be powered by Solar Panels. She received a trophy, a gold medal, cash prize of INR 30000, and a voucher of INR 10000 for international educational workshops. The models were observed and the awards were presented by esteemed dignitaries, including Mr.R.N.Ravi, Governor of Tamil Nadu, Retd. Lieutenant General Vinod G. Khandare, Principal Advisor to the Ministry of Defence, cosmonauts from Kazakhstan and Russia and the High Commissioner of Seychelles.
RENA MANISH MATHEW’s "Yoga Pose Detector" secured a spot in the top 20 earning her a Gold Medal of Excellence. ANSHIKA ALMAL received a finalist trophy for her project "Silent Symphony." The students were mentored by Dr. Nima M. Joseph and Mr. Shobhit Daga.
Principal Dr. M Kasturi congratulated the students for their exemplary accomplishment and lauded their remarkable achievement.
