“Saare Jahan Se Achcha Hindustaa Hamara…” — It wasn’t just a tune; it became the hallmark of our entire journey. This journey from Birla Balika Vidyapeeth, Pilani to Kartavyapath was full of enthusiasm, hard work, struggle and self-confidence.
We 51 students rigorously practiced under the guidance of Rajkumar Sir and Savita Mam. Many a times seeing them worried, fear would also arise in the mind and the morale would falter. We moved forward with our hard work, dedication, hard practice and unwavering faith in God. From the hard training received from Sudhir sir and Rajkumar sir in Birla Balika Vidyapeeth, we were confident that what we have learned will take us forward. The belief in ourselves became our strength; due to this we never let our spirits down and with this confidence we also got the opportunity to give our band display in front of the Army Chief and the Naval Chief.
They say “Practice as if you have never tasted victory and perform as if you have never lost.” That was our motto during strict discipline and hard practice and we presented in such a way that nothing better can happen mesmerizing the viewers, leaving them awe struck!
The difficulties of the 67th Pilani Band were not over. We reached Kartavyapath but our performance was not certain. There was fear in the mind, the competition was tough, the challenge was big, but there was no lack of enthusiasm. The God of rain- Indradev showered his grace so much that the rain did not even stop, but nothing dithered our excitement and we started once again to the tune of “Young India” while drenching our Pilani band! And then came that glorious day — January 26.
That moment was not just a display, but a triumph of our hard work, faith and dreams. The tunes changed as we marched and went ahead India gate to the bus stand the tears falling were not of sadness or fear but of the overwhelming emotion filled with pride and success. We worked for it and we did it.
This Republic Day trip was truly pleasant — some sweet, some sour and many heartwarming. Rajkumar sir’s support was an inspiration for us and Savita mam’s affection was our strength. And perhaps it was the destiny that we had to reach India Gate on January 26 — because it was not just a journey, but a dream that came true.
